The offer

What sealing actually does.

Sealing isn't just a top-coat for shine. Done properly it locks kiln-dried sand into the joints permanently, prevents weed germination, blocks oil and tyre marks from staining, and brings the surface colour back richer than freshly cleaned.

How it works

Five steps, no surprises.

Sealer is only as good as the surface underneath. Get the prep wrong and the best product in the world will peel off in a year. We don't get the prep wrong.

Free quote

Send your postcode plus close-up photos of the surface. We need to see the material to recommend the right sealer — block paving, sandstone, concrete and imprinted concrete each take a different product.

Surface prep

Drive or patio gets a deep clean (or you can have us do it). Joints re-sanded. Surface left to dry fully — sealing over damp paving is the most common reason sealants fail. We'd rather wait an extra day than rush.

Test patch

On natural stone or anything we haven't sealed before, a small test patch first to check the colour change. Some sealers darken the surface (the "wet look"); some are matt. We'll show you both before committing the whole drive.

Sealing

Sealer applied with sprayer or roller in even passes. Two coats for block paving, one for natural stone (over-applying stone sealer creates a hazy film). Walk-on within 4 hours, drive-on within 24.

Aftercare

A quick wash-off every 12–18 months keeps it looking fresh. We send a one-page aftercare sheet so you know when to re-seal — typically 2–3 years on a drive, longer on a sheltered patio.

About us

A small Gloucestershire team that does this properly.

We're based in Gloucestershire and we cover the county — Cheltenham, Gloucester, Newent, Quedgeley, Abbeymead and the villages and Cotswold hamlets in between. Sealing comes after every drive and patio clean we do, and we run sealing-only jobs across the county for surfaces that have been cleaned recently and now need protection.

Sealing is where most "drive cleaning" companies cut corners. Cheap DIY sealers go on damp paving, peel within a year, and trap dirt under the film. We use professional-grade products from manufacturers like Resiblock, Smartseal and Universeal — applied to a surface that's been properly cleaned and fully dried. The job costs a bit more up front; it lasts three to four times longer.

What we don't do

  • We don't sub the work out — the person who quotes you is the person who turns up.
  • We don't take deposits. You pay when the job's done and you're happy.
Where we work

The whole of Gloucestershire — every village, every town.

Cheltenham, Gloucester, Newent, Quedgeley, Abbeymead. Different stone, different access, same standard.

Sealing prices

How much does driveway & patio sealing cost?

We don't quote a flat rate over the phone — sealing depends on the area, the surface and how much prep it needs first — but to be straight with you, most sealing jobs are £350–£800. A modest patio sits at the lower end; larger block-paved drives, or surfaces that need a full clean and re-sand before sealing, push it up.

What moves the price:

  • Size of the area (square metres)
  • Surface — block paving, concrete, imprinted concrete or natural stone
  • Type of sealer and number of coats
  • How much cleaning and re-sanding is needed before sealing

How we quote: a free no-obligation survey, a written price the same day, no deposit, pay only when it's done. Sealing is best done straight after a driveway or patio clean, so ask about both together.

Common questions

The things people actually ask before booking.

What does sealing actually do?

Four things. Locks kiln-dried sand into block-paving joints permanently so they don't wash out. Blocks weeds from germinating between slabs. Makes oil, fuel, BBQ grease and tyre marks easy to wipe instead of staining permanently. And brings the surface colour back richer — sealed paving looks freshly-cleaned for years.

Wet look or matt finish?

Both available. Wet-look (high-gloss acrylic) gives the just-rained-on rich colour effect. Matt sealer protects without changing appearance much. We'll do a test patch with each before you commit, so you can see how each looks on your specific surface in your light.

How long does a sealing job last?

2–3 years on a driveway, longer on a sheltered patio. We'll tell you when to re-seal — usually you can spot it because water stops beading on the surface and starts soaking in. Re-sealing existing sealer is much cheaper than the first job (no strip needed).

Can I drive on it straight after?

24 hours and you're fine for normal cars. Heavy use — lorry deliveries, parking trailers, overnight tourist coaches if you have a B&B — wait 48–72 hours for full cure. We'll talk you through whether to move the cars off-site overnight or whether you can park back on the next morning.

Why not just buy sealer from B&Q?

DIY sealers are watered-down acrylic. They go on cloudy, peel within a year, and trap moisture under the film which causes blooming (white patches) you can't fix without stripping the lot off. Professional-grade sealers are 3–4× more concentrated, breathable, and rated for a 2–3 year service life. Cost difference is 2–3×; lifespan difference is 4–5×.
